Ruby’s Pov:
“Come on,come on” mum said as she held my hand and took me out of the room with her.
When we got to the stairs, she paused and made sure I was good enough, then we proceeded on the stairs to the sitting room .
I felt really nervous! I’d be getting to see Noah!
Mum and I got to the sitting room and there we met Noah and his family!
Oh my gee! They were real!
They had just entered and were already at the dining with dad and Tammy.
“Oh! They’re here! Please, meet my wife and daughter” dad announced as soon as mum and I stepped in.
“Ah! She’s pretty” Noah’s dad said with a little chuckle.
Noah and Rex were already sitting
“Good evening, sir. Good evening ma” I smiled nervously, giving them a little bow.
“Good evening dear. She takes after her mother” Noah’s mum also complimented and I felt my head becoming two.
“Come on,come on, let’s all have a seat” dad said and we all moved towards the table and took a seat.
“Hi Noah” I said in my warmest voice ever as I sat, facing him.
“Hi” he muttered under his breath and reached for a glass of wine.
Oops! I breathed out a deep sigh.
“Hi…Rex” Tammy giggled.
“Hi, pretty” he replied and Tammy’s cheeks turned pure red.
Hmph.
“Um…Sigmund” dad called after a little pause
“I really want to appreciate you for honoring my invitation and coming over for this dinner. I know for someone like you, it should be difficult, but you made it possible”.
“Oh! Come on, Richard. We used to be closer than this – but business and family got in the way” Noah’s dad replied and they laughed.
“It’s fine. I’m really glad for the success of this meeting. At least, our children got to meet each other”.
He smiled and looked at me, then back at Noah and my cheeks flushed.
Oh, my gee!!!
But Noah…he wasn’t even smiling or staring at anyone.
The maids were already dishing out the foods.
Suddenly, the door opened and my heart skipped as the thought dawned on me..
I turned and as expected, it was Maxine.

Maxine’s Pov:
I was so bittered and pained that I didn’t even notice the numerous cars parked outside the house to think Noah and his family were already here.
I got to the entrance and pushed the door open and my eyes dimmed at the people I met at the dining.
Oh, my God! They were here already!
Noah and his family! They’re here!
I paused at the door, feeling scared to go in. I wasn’t expecting to see them. I mean, it didn’t even occur to me.
They all looked at me and my nervousness increased.
Slowly, I shut the door and counted my steps towards the room.
Noah was staring keenly at me, obviously telling my face looked familiar.
Oh God! Please, don’t let him say a word about me dancing at the bar.
And Rex…he kept smiling.
“Oh! Is this…Maxine?” Noah’s dad asked.
“The daughter of your late brother?”
“Uh…yes, she is” uncle replied, looking uneasy – same with aunt, Tammy and Ruby..
They all looked like they wanted to eat me up.
“Um…good evening” I threw a general greeting, not knowing who to greet in particular.
“Good evening, dear. She looks so pretty” Noah’s mum complimented.
“Good evening, how was school?” His dad asked.
“It…it was fine, sir. Thanks”
“Hello Maxine” Rex also said and my heart skipped.
“Good evening sir” I greeted shyly and looked at Noah.
He had already taken his eyes back to his meal
But don’t let him say a word about me, please.
“Well, I guess you’re in time to join us for dinner…”
“No, no, she won’t be eating with us” Aunt suddenly cut off Mrs Sigmund who was talking
“Huh? Why?” She asked.
“Well…she’s got other things to do. Come on, Maxine; hurry upstairs” aunt urged me and I nodded and took the stairs.

As I got into the room, I suddenly felt rejected and pained.
Recalling how my aunt had detested the idea of joining them – it made me feel so unimportant.
I sighed and sat on the bed for a while.
Gosh! I was so hungry.
After a while, I decided to take a shower.

After showering, I found something simple to wear and sat on the bed. I couldn’t go to the kitchen because that’d warrant me reaching the dining and I didn’t want that to happen.
I felt so tired and bored and decided to do something fun – practice!
The competition was coming up tomorrow and I was yet to practice.
No matter how perfect I was, I still needed to get ready.
I hurried to the wardrobe where I had hidden my ear phones and brought it out. I had gotten it with the money I received from dancing at Pablo’s bar and whenever I was free and alone at home, I’d just connect it and dance.
I smiled as I took it out and inserted the memory card. Well, thank goodness the entire family were having dinner downstairs. Probably, I should keep myself company up here.
I rushed out of the room and went out to the big quiet balcony, where I felt like was on top of the world. That was my favorite dancing spot in the house because it made me feel I was flying.
I connected the headphones happily and set to work.

Ruby’s Pov:
The dinner was kinda boring me because I hadn’t gotten what I wanted. Dad and Noah’s parents kept talking about business and all that but Noah didn’t even spare me a glance. How am I supposed to get his attention?
Finally, mum’s plan worked. The maid in charge of it tried pouring him some drink and purposely spilled it on his legs, but of course, she made it look like it was a mistake.
“Oh my God!” She exclaimed in fear as everyone gasped.
“I’m so sorry. Please, forgive me. I’m so sorry”.
“You clumsy fool!” Mum snapped.
“Have you lost your senses? Huh? Or, have you gone blind?”
“Please ma’am,I’m so sorry. It wasn’t intentional”.
Noah was just speechless, staring at his expensive white which was now stained.
“Get lost!” She snarled and the maid shivered and ran away.
“Noah son'” dad called.
“I apologize for that. Some of these maids can be really clumsy at times”.
“Yeah, its okay. I’ll take care of it” Noah replied, his voice sounding so sweet.
“Ruby please, show Noah to the guest room so he can wash himself” mum said and my heart jingled.
I felt like smiling but tried hard to restrict myself.
“No, don’t bother” Noah suddenly said, making me cold.
Huh?
“I’ll take care of it” he added and stood up.
What?
“No! You don’t…have to worry. I’ll just take you there” I insisted and didn’t know when I stood up.
“Please, sit. I’ll find my way. You can be sure I won’t go missing” he replied and before any other person could say a word, he left the dining, taking the stairs.

Noah’s Pov:
That lady and her mother looked really tricky.
Anyway, I couldn’t afford going to a room alone with her. I just didn’t like her.
I took the stairs, not knowing where exactly I was headed.
How do I find the guest room? And why the f**k did that maid have to spill drink on me? Was she blind or something?
I got to the end of stairs and came across a long passage and suddenly, I noticed some movements at the balcony in front of me.
It seemed as if…
I inserted my hands in my trouser pockets and decided to go have a look and my heart beamed at the sight in front of me.
It was a lady dancing.
The same lady at the bar.
She had an earphone connected and danced with so much enthusiasm – like she was practicing for something.
Wow! She was damn good.
I felt relaxed as I stood watching her. I could watch something like this for an entire day.
Her dance steps were amazing and I admire dancers like her.
The same way I admire the veiled lady.
Suddenly, she stopped dancing when she saw me.
She gasped in fright like she had seen a ghost and we both stood transfixed, staring at each other.
She was beautiful.

Maxine’s Pov:
I stopped dancing when I noticed someone standing and staring at me.
What??
Noah?????
Oh my God!!
My feet became cold instantly as I stared at him, trying to understand if it were a dream or something.
What’s he doing here?? I mean, I thought they were all having dinner?
Oh my God!!
He continued staring speechlessly and finally, started walking towards me, making my heart beat faster than a party drum.
Oh my God! What’s he doing, please?
I disconnected the headphones from my ears and watched him as he came closer and stood in front of me. I noticed a stain on his dress.
“S…sir” I said in a cracked voice.
“Hi” he muttered and leaned on the bars of the balcony.
I couldn’t even feel my heart anymore. What am I to do? Should I run away?
“Your name is Maxine?” He asked and I nodded slowly, wondering how he knew.
“You are…the lady at the bar, right?”
“Y…Yes” I replied with my eyes dancing on the floor.
“You’re quite a good dancer. Good job” he complimented and I had to lift my eyes to look at him..
Huh?
My eyes beamed but I tried not to show the excitement.
“Thank you sir” I said with a little smile.
We remained silent for a while.
“Well…I was on my way to the guest room to use some water on this. Would you mind…showing me the way?” He asked, pointing to his shirt and my heart skipped.
What?
He wants me to accompany him to the guest room?
Oh my God
“Um…okay, sure” I replied and took the lead, feeling so nervous.
Noah was right behind me!
Like…Noah – the guy I’ve always admired!!
I kept praying I don’t miss any step and slip and luckily, we got to the guest room successfully.
“This is it, sir” I said politely as I held the door open for him.
He nodded and walked in and urged me to come in as well.
Huh?
I gulped nervously and followed him in and he proceeded into the toilet.
Pheww!!;
I exhaled deeply as I stayed alone in the room. Gosh; that was so scary.
I sat on the bed and placed my hands on my chest, trying to calm down my nervousness. I still couldn’t believe it – Noah was close to me.
Holy Christ! How did he even get to meet me at the balcony?
After a while, he came out of the toilet, his dress looking better than before. I couldn’t believe this was the same guy I only saw on TV’s and billboards.
“Are you part of the Star Dance competition?” He asked and I shook my head.
“Why? You’ve got a great talent”.
“Yeah- I…. I just couldn’t meet up. Maybe, next time”,I replied and he nodded and sat next to me on the bed.
Huh? Isn’t he returning to the dining?
Just then, his phone started ringing and he brought it out from his pocket and picked the call.
☎Yes? Seth?
☎Nothing yet?
☎Why’s it so difficult knowing who she is?
He bent his head and itched his eyes.
☎Listen to me, I really wanna know that lady’s identity. She isn’t a ghost, is she? And I’m pretty sure she doesn’t wear a veil her entire life. She must have friends – people that know her. Even dancing at the party – she had make up and costume – she didnt do them herself, Seth. They were done by people – people who saw her face!
So, let it be known across the country – pass this information to every news organization – anyone who gives me the identity of the Crazy dancer will be rewarded awesomely by me beyond imaginations.” he said on the phone and I turned in a flash to look at him.

Hannah’s Pov:
I was trying so hard to control my anger as I boiled within me. Why the hell did my plans have to scatter, huh? Why did Noah insist on going alone to the guest room?
“Um…Honey” Richard suddenly called.
“Can I speak with you for a second, please? ”
“Huh? Is there a problem?” Mrs Sigmund asked.
“No, no, not at all. Please, don’t panic. I just…need to inform her of something urgent” Richard replied and looked at me and we stood up together.
What’s wrong with him? Why does he have to request a conversation in the middle of such dinner?
We took the stairs and stopped when we got to the quiet passage, not realizing we were in front of the guest room.
“Hey, Richard. What’s wrong? What’s so important?” I asked as we stood facing each other.
“There’s a problem, Hannah” he replied with a worried look.
“I just got a text – it’s Rex. He wants us to release Maxine to work as his personal maid in the mansion. And he’s using some threats on me if I should refuse”.
I gasped in shock

Maxine’s Pov:
Noah and I were about leaving the bed when we heard some voices outside room – obviously close to the door.
I could recognize them – it was my aunt and uncle. What were they talking about?
Noah stood up and went closer to the door and I also did same.
We stood close to the door and their voices became clear enough.
They were talking about me!
“Why would Rex threaten you to release Maxine to work as his personal maid?” I heard aunt asked and the agony came stirring in.
“What?” Noah flinched and I turned to see him wearing a crumpled look.

“What? How can he request such a thing?” I heard aunt ask.
“I don’t know – but hes damn serious about it. And he’s threatened to cut off some of my clients if I fail to do what he wants. I don’t know how serious he is about it” uncle replied.
The whole thing was making me shiver
“So, what do you suggest we do? We can’t have Maxine staying with in that mansion. What if Noah falls for her?”
Oh my God!!
“That witch!! Why the hell would Rex want to take her away?”
Immediately, Noah opened the door and before I could say a word, he walked out.

“No” I exclaimed silently and hid properly behind the door.

Noah’s Pov:
I opened the door angrily and walked out and they all looked shocked seeing me.
They stopped talking at once.
“N…Noah” Mr Richard called, abacked
I gave them a disgusting stare and walked away.
That fool.
I clumped down the stairs and met him at the dining.
“Rex, we need to talk. Now”,I told him and walked away, not awaiting a reply.
“Noah?” I heard mum call behind me, but didn’t turn to look at her.
I left the sitting room and waited for Rex in the garden and shortly, he showed up.
“Hey, big brother” he called from behind, making me turn to look at him.
“What the f**k is wrong with you?” I gritted my teeth and asked angrily and of course, he acted surprised.
“What are you talking about?” He asked.
“Don’t play dumb with me, Rex! Why do you want that lady to work as your personal maid?” I asked and his countenance changed.
“Answer me, Rex! I need an explanation! Why do you want her working as a maid for you to the extent you had to threaten her guardians?”
“Well, its none of your business” he blurted and immediately, I gripped him by the collars
“Now, listen to me and listen very good; if you wouldn’t want me hitting you for the first time, I’d suggest you tell me the truth.
“Tell me, are you tryna use her as a payback or what? Huh???”
“Let me go, Rex!! Its f**king none of your business!”, he rasped and I punched him in the face.
“Have you become so foolish?” I snapped and punched him again.
“How dare you think of taking advantage of a naive lady?”
He groaned and tried punching me, but I caught his hand in mid-air and returned the punch.
“Damn you!” He roared and just then, mum and dad came rushing out of the house.
“Noah! Rex!” Mum called in shock.
“What the hell is going on here??”
They got to where we were and held Rex.
“Noah! What’s the meaning of this?” Dad asked.
“Why don’t you ask your foolish son why he’s so bent on using an innocent lady as a revenge tool against me!” I replied raucously and mum flinched.
“Huh? Wh…What’re you talking about?” She asked.
“Ask him why the hell he threatened Richard and his wife to release Maxine as a maid to him. Ask him!!”
“Like I said, its none of your business!!”, he fired back, being restricted by mum’s grip.
“Admit it, Rex” I said with a scoff.
“Why don’t you tell mum and dad the main reason you’re mad at me? It isn’t because you caught me kissing your girlfriend. But because you’re a fool! You feel I’m better than you! I’m the dancer, the one with the fame, richer and the heir to the company! Tell them that’s the reason you’re really mad at me, you fool!!”
“Arghhhh” he cried out and fred himself from mum’s grip, landing a punch on my face.
“Rex!” Mum called in shock.
“You know what?” I continued.
“I’m done trying to make peace with you because I’ve gotten to know you’re nothing but a selfish fool! You already have some part of the company, but no! You want everything! Everything! You wanna be the head even when you know I’m the eldest! And now, you try to pass the anger and frustration to a poor little girl by making her your maid? Tell you what, I’m very disappointed”.
And with that, I walked away, going into my car.

Maxine’s Pov:
I stood hidden by the door, praying so hard that no one comes in. But unfortunately, they did.
The door opened again and my aunt walked in and was shocked to find me behind the door.
“Maxine??” She called in shock.
“You…What’re you…?”
She paused and looked around.
“Were you with Noah???”
I felt fear grip me as I thought of what to say but couldn’t.
Oh my God! I’m dead!
“What the hell were you doing with him??” She yelled.
“I…I didn’t do anything, aunt. I swear! He just…he…”
Before I could finish up my statement, she landed a slap on my cheek.
“You witch!” She rasped
“How dare you? How dare you think of cheating around with him? Who told you to go close to him?”
“I didn’t…” I cried, holding my cheek and she gripped my hair roughly..
“You animal! You really wanna have him, huh? You think you stand a chance? Huh??” She rasped and pushed me roughly on the floor.
I yelped in pains.
“You’re gonna stay here for the next 24 hours and feed on your own skin! Rascal!” She faciled angrily and left the room, locking the door.
“No..please!” I whimpered.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t do anything” I cried all to myself.

I drove angrily on a crazy speed, not knowing exactly where to go. I just needed some time alone – some cool air.
Rex! The animal was making me mad already.
How could someone be that selfish and insensible to the extent of hurting a young lady?

Damn it! Why does my only brother have to be a pain in the ass?
My phone started ringing and I brought it out of my pocket, about switching it off when I noticed it was my manager calling.

His call interested me and I picked it up without reluctance.
☎yes? Is it important? I’m in the middle of something” I said impatiently as soon as I picked the call.
☎Yes, Noah! I’ve got great news for you! Excellent news!” He said happily and my countenance brightened up.
Please, tell me its what I’m thinking.
☎Wh…What is it? Tell me” I asked curiously and felt him smile.
☎The veiled lady – we’ve gotten someone who knows her face. Your request had been uploaded on social media as soon as you told me and it went viral. And right now, a lady just called me. She said she knows who the veiled lady is because she was among the make up artistes that dressed her up on the night of the party”, he replied and I screeched the car to a halt immediately.
