Transmission occurs through the ingestion of contaminated water or food. Sudden large outbreaks are usually caused by a contaminated water supply. Outbreaks and endemic and sporadic cases are often attributed to raw or undercooked seafood.

iii) Two symptoms of cholera:
(a)Diarrhea. Cholera-related diarrhea comes on suddenly and can quickly cause dangerous fluid loss — as much as a quart (about 1 liter) an hour. .

(b)Nausea and vomiting. Vomiting occurs especially in the early stages of cholera and can last for hours.
