A Girl Like Amanda Episode 24.
“Doc?” She asked into the receiver.
“Yes, it’s Doctor James from meridian hospital. You asked me to… ” she cuts in.
“I remember you Doc, is my friend okay?” She said uneasily.
“She is doing fine, in fact, she wants to speak with you.” He commented.
“Amanda, where the hell are you at?” Vicky spoke out angrily.
“Easy Vicky, it’s for your own good okay? You’re not safe with me so I had to make some adjustment when you were unconscious.” She said.
“By leaving me with a stranger, really Amanda?” She tells her.
“Am sorry but it was the best thing to do at the time.” She informs.
“I understand, but where are you. We need to talk.” She said.
“We will but not until I found out what happened to your brother.” She sighs.
“Fine, as you wish.” She gives the phone back to doctor James.
“Vicky?” Amanda called out to her.
“She is angry and she said if you want to speak to her, you should come over here.” Doctor James informs.
“Tell her, I can’t for now. But very soon.” She said simply.
“Okay, I will and thank you for the money.”
She drops her phone on the table, taking off her clothes as she goes to the shower and wash her body clean.
She was exhausted now as she got out of the shower wet with a white towel tied around her chest.
She enters her room as she drops the towel before going to her wardrobe and brings out a red jumpsuit and a black bra and G string.
Going to her shoe rack, she picks a red feminine sandal and throws the cloth on the bed.
Walking over to her mirror stand, she pulls out the drawer and takes out her body cream and a make up kit and places it on the table, rubbing the cream all over her smooth body, taking her time before wearing her undies and dress up.
She applies a little make up on her face, her phone suddenly buzzed.
She stares at it then drop the lipstick she was holding, she sees a WhatsApp notification, she enters it and see it was from Michael’s account. He sent her a video file and when she clicks on it. She was terrified.
It is a video of Michael getting shot three times in a place which appeared to be a ware house, she breaks down immediately.
There after, his body was dragged and out inside a grey car trunk.
Then a message pops up.
‘Now you know how he died.’
Staring in anger, she throws her phone away and falls on the floor crying.
Crying for some few minutes, she picks up her phone and types on the keyboard, sending a message to whoever it was.
‘Whoever you are, am coming for you.’ She sends.
She watches him for a few seconds, he starts typing and a message pops.
“I’ll be waiting love.” She reads.
Short, I know but like I said, am having a lil phone problem. Biko bear with me.
A Girl Like Amanda Episode 25.
Amanda is angry and sober at the same time, the video of Michael getting killed disturbed her, for two days, Amanda is frustrated and confused and she is always indoors. Mama and the kids have tried calling her out but she remains adamant. Two days, she hadn’t eaten anything, only crying. For some one a man should fear, seeing her now would someone think she has a childish behavior.
Mama Tobenna have knocked on her doors severally all to no avail. Her phone has been switched off since the day she got the video, she wished deeply she knew his killer, she imagined torturing whoever they are before killing them.
On the third day, she realized she has been missing much to the society.
She got out of bed and looked like an insane lady as her hair is unkempt, and her cloth stinking because since the day, she hadn’t the strength to bath or brush, talk more of eating.
Feeling like she lost everything, she shifted her mind to her family she had kept away from for three days.
She imagined granny sober and everyone else worried.
She checked out the time on the wall clock, it was thirty minutes past twelve o’clock.
It dawned on her that she can’t be hiding inside her room, in order to find out Michael’s death, she’s gonna need help and Maureen came into her mind.
Even though she has been trying to lose the feeling that she misses her, she can’t ignore it.
Picking up her phone, she switches it on and wait for a minute before it comes up.
Dialing up Maureen’s number, she places it at her ear, soon a feminine voice said a sweet ‘hello’ to the caller.
“Honey, it’s me. Amy.” She said.
“Oh my god, I’ve been worried sick about you Amanda.” Maureen’s worried voice rang through the phone.
“Am fine, how are you doing?.” She commented.
“I should be the one asking you. My father wants to see you.” She said.
“Why?.” She questioned.
“You haven’t heard.” Maureen answered.
“Heard what?.” She became puzzled.
“I guess you’re not in Lagos then, some gangs raided your house two days ago, Adams is badly injured, he managed to kill two of them but the rest injured him and left, he was just lucky to be alive. We are looking for them. Thank God you’re safe.” She details everything to Amanda.
“Yea, why did no one inform me if this?.” She asked.
“Girl, your number was switched off for the past two days now, I’ve been trying to get to you.” She drops.
“Yea, true. Look I need a favor from you.” She said after some few seconds of silence.
“What is it baby girl? Anything for you.” Maureen asked.
“You’re like a computer guru. You still remember my WhatsApp password right?.” She said.
“Yep, I do.” She commented.
“Good, log in to it. There’s a video from Michael’s account. Dated three day ago. Trace it and see it where it came from and the location is needed. Can you do that?.” She said.
“Michael? His dead remember?.” Maureen sounded confused.
“I know,”
“Then how can he send you a video file dated three days ago.”
“He didn’t, someone else sent it.”
“So what is in the file?.”
“Michael’s death, the file contains the video of Michael getting killed.
“Fvck, how are you doing now.”
“Am good, can you do it.”
“Yes, give me a day. I love you.”
“Okay, I love you too.”
After ending the call, Amanda took a shower and brushed her teeth, after dressing up in a simple outfit, she exited her room and walked out the door.
Being Saturday, Lotenna, Tobenna and Somadina are seen playing ‘Oya’ while the boys were playing ‘hide and go seek’.
When they all saw her, they stopped all they were doing and ran up to her.
“Aunty good morning.” Ositadinma and the rest greeted her.
She responded and smiled at them.
“We’ve missed you, you just locked yourself away from us.” Soludo sadly said.
“It’s true aunty Amanda, we’ve been knocking on your door since, even granny had knocked on your door but you refused to open up. I even brought food for you. We taught you left us the way you did last time but your car is still in the compound.” Lotenna smartly says.
“Am sorry my darlings, but something happened to me.” She was amazed at the kindness and the love they’re showing her as some worried faces were looking at her.
“What happened aunty?.” It was Somadina that asked.
Amanda looked at her and smiled.
“You’re Somadina right?.” She asked the little girl.
Somadina nods slowly. She squats down a little and touch the head of Somadina.
“Well, beautiful young Somadina, I can’t tell you kids okay.” She said and they all nodded their heads.
“Aunty have you eaten?.” When Lotenna asked her. Making her realise that she is very much famished.
“Well, I am now hungry Lotenna.” She said with her usual smile.
“Maybe I can help with that.” A male baritone voice said from behind.
When she turns around, she saw Jidenna standing, “What do you say if I take you out for lunch?.”

“Sorry, what’s that your name again?.” She asked him.
“It’s Jidenna.” He replied smiling showing off his dimples.
“I see, well Jidenna. I do appreciate your kind gesture but am not interested.” She bluntly said.
“Am only trying to be friends with you. Am trying to be friendly.” He said smoothly.
Amanda gave a short laugh and turned back to the children.
“Soludo where is granny?.” She asked Soludo who is busy smiling sheepishly.
“She inside her room.” He responds still smiling obviously happy that she shunned Jidenna.
“Okay, you guys should continue what you were doing let me go and see her.” She said as she walks away ignoring the presence of Jidenna.
He ran up to her quickly.
“Amanda, I just want us to be friends, that’s all.” He said as he caught up with her.
“You don’t give up do you. I am not interested. You’re a family friend and I like your younger sister but that doesn’t mean we can be friends or anything.” She angrily said as she frustrated with his consistent disturbance.
“I know but…” he tries to say but she cuts him short.
“No buts Jidenna, am a gay and I don’t befriend boys so please don’t make me embarrass you in front of your kid sister.” As she said that, he stops immediately and looks at her for a few seconds.
“You’re the girl that dealt with Pius right?.” He asks her.
“The girl from the stream? Yes, he wouldn’t stop pestering me the way you’re pestering me now so my advice to you is this, am not your type of everyday girl, am not a lady so please steer clear away from me. Not a greetings or whatsoever.” She bluntly said as she walks away from him entering granny’s room.
He stood there for some seconds when Soludo and Somadina ran up to him.
“Brother Jidenna, are you alright?.” Somadina asks him as she saw the sadness on his face
“Am fine Soma, just a little bit confused.” He said.
“Don’t worry brother Jidenna, she doesn’t really like talking to the boys.” Soludo said almost laughing.
“Yea, Soludo thanks for letting me know.” He said to him before turning to his sister, “am going to see my friends, go home early alright.” She nods her head as he goes out of the compound.
A Girl Like Amanda Episode 27.
“Mama, are you in?.” Amanda asked as she entered granny’s room.
Mama who was lying down on the bed saw Amanda and quickly sat up.
“My jewel, her father’s pride.” Mama complimented as she gets close to her.
Amanda smiles as she hugs granny tightly.
“Easy, easy before you break my bones completely.” She said jokingly and Amanda laughs.
“I love seeing you smile. I was worried these past few days you locked yourself in your building.
“Mama, am very sorry. I was sad but it doesn’t matter now.” She said.
“What is making my jewel to be sad. Is it boyfriend?.” As mama said, Amanda have a short laugh and looked away, she is angry but tried suppressing it with a smile, she turns and face mama and said “No mama, I don’t have a boyfriend mama. It’s just me and my busy life.” She said smiling.
“I can see but am surprised a pretty girl like you do not have a boyfriend.” Granny complimented and Amanda still kept smiling.
“Mama, a boyfriend is not what I need now. I can take care of my self. Don’t need any controlling guy in my life.” She said freely.
“If you say so, you are still young so that isn’t a problem for now.” She nods her head in understanding as granny said that.
Eight years ago.
“Mama, I don’t like what you are doing ooo. How can you tell me to go sit on that man’s leg.” Fifteen years old Amanda complains heavily as she drops her school bag in a corner in her mother’s office inside a bar that she runs, her mother had told her to go sit on an old man’s leg, the man is in his early sixties and some small bars in the bar hails him every time he walks in, he would start spraying money joyfully. He had seen Amanda two days prior and told her mother who is referred to as Mama J, when the man told Juliet that he would like to sleep with Amanda for one night, at first she refused but when Senator Adewale offered two million naira, she quickly accepted the offer.
They had made the arrangements, Mama J would tell her daughter to follow him when she comes back from school and if she grees, he would transfer the money to her account immediately.
“Shut up, I am your mother, I carried in my stomach for nine months. You are disobeying me, see let me tell you. If you don’t go and meet that man and do everything he tells you to do, no more school for you. I won’t pay for a disobedient child’s school fees oo, lai lai, eno fit happen.” She angrily said as she yells at her.
Amanda knew her mother meant what she said, she couldn’t decide on what to do at that point of time.
“Look, I need to go attend to my customers, if you dey mad. No change your uniform and come out and meet that senator. I give you seven minutes Amanda. After all, na me dey take care of you after your stupid father died, non sense girl.” She cursed as she brushed past her.
Amanda falls to the floor, streams of tears ran down her eyes. To her, it was unfair. But she had no choice, her education was important, and she would do anything possible to secure it, moreover, her senior waec exam is fast approaching.
“Amanda!!.” Granny shouts out her name as she taps her.
She realize she was thinking, hiding the depression on her face, Amanda smiled again.
“Like smile from now till tomorrow, what were you thinking?.” Granny asked her.
“Nothing mama, nothing serious.” She said in a calm manner.
“Nothing serious? Are you sure?.” Granny worriedly asked.
“Yes, granny
Don’t worry about a thing. Am fine.” She hugs granny again and kisses her on the forehead then stands up.
“Mama am hungry, let me go and buy something to eat.” She said.
“Okay,” granny said.
Coming out of mama’s room, she sees Soludo seated at a corner.
She called him and he ran up to her.
“Is there any eatery around?.” She asks him.
He thinks around for a second and said “Yes, there is one close to the school. Daili foods.” He said.
“Good, get dressed and call Soludo and Lotenna, we are going to the eatery but inform your mother first okay?” She said and he smiled immediately. He ran quickly to Soludo and Lotenna, he told them and they grinning from ear to ear. The three of them ran to their mother inside their building.
A Girl Like Amanda Episode 28.
Coming out of mama’s room, she sees Soludo seated at a corner.
She called him and he ran up to her.
“Is there any eatery around?.” She asks him.
He thinks around for a second and said “Yes, there is one close to the school. Daili foods.” He said.
“Good, get dressed and call Soludo and Lotenna, we are going to the eatery but inform your mother first okay?” She said and he smiled immediately. He ran quickly to Soludo and Lotenna, he told them and they grinning from ear to ear. The three of them ran to their mother inside their building.
Few minutes later, they came out dancing happily after changing to something nice.
Amanda looking at them smiled and opened the back door for the three children but Soludo pleaded to sit at the passenger seat with her. She only look at him and open the front seat for him, he climbs on roughly but sits and adjusted his cloth.
Igniting the engine and driving out of the compound.
Seven minutes later, they arrived at the restaurant and Soludo and his siblings were happy as they gleefully came down.
She leads them inside the restaurant.
Seeing an empty seat and the far end, she directs them and the four of them took a seat. Soludo still smiling, looks around obviously happy about the place.
“Waiter!” She called to lady who wore a white T-shirt with the restaurant’s logo on the shirt.
She walks up to them and said her usual “Hello, what can I get for you guys” after giving her menu.
Amanda taking a peek at it ordered for fried rice with salad with a chicken lap for each.
The waiter still showing her usual smile nods her head and walks away to the counter where she talks to a guy, waiting for a minute. A tray is placed on the counter top and the girl picks it up and headed back to the Amanda’s table.
“Aunty Amanda this food is sweet oo, in fact, almost sweeter than my mother’s own.” Soludo suddenly commented.
“It’s a lie jor, mummy’s meal is better than theirs but the food is good.” Lotenna cuts in.
“Lotenna, Soludo is right oo. I mean are you eating what am eating here?.” Osita asked taking a bite on his chicken lap.
Amanda hearing, slightly laughs.
“Soludo and Osita, your sister is right. It’s not right to say this in public. Your mum is a good cook Soludo.” She strokes his head a little, he nods and mutters “Am sorry”.
“Nothing to be sorry about.” She said as continued eating.
Ten minutes later.
They walked out of the restaurant carrying pack of foods obviously for the children at home. They entered the car.
“Hope you guys enjoyed the food.” She asked as she insert the key.
“Yes!” They shouted in unison.
She smiles and ignited the engine. This is her parting gift.
She will tell mama when she gets home and she will give everyone something to remember her by.
She planned on going back to the city the next day.
Reversing out of restaurant’s edifice. She drove out.
She took a left turn into a bushy area but she suddenly stops the car.
In front of her was a fallen tree blocking her path.
She looked confused and looks around, sensing danger. She wanted to pull out her hand gun from the car cabinet but couldn’t do it as the children were watching her.
“Aunty what happened? This tree wasn’t here when we passed here earlier.” Lotenna spoke out.
“I know Lotenna, you guys should stay in the car. Do not come out of this car for any reason.” She warns them as she comes down from the car.
Taking a look at the surrounding bushes, she couldn’t see any tree around.
She walks up to the tree and tries lifting.
Immediately a masked man came out from his hiding behind Amanda.
“Hello beautiful.” The tall masked man spoke out.
Amanda turns around and see the man holding a gun.
“Look, whatever you think you’re gonna do. You’ll simply regret. So my advice to you is this. Walk out while you still can.” She warns.
“You’re still feisty. Amanda, you didn’t think a miserable girl like you could embarrass me and go scott free, do you?.” He laughs.
“Why don’t you remove your baby mask and find out if I won’t rearrange your face again?” She commented.
‘Thud!’
She falls down holding her head, his accomplice hit her from behind with a tree trunk.
Seeing blood, she gets angry, standing up, she is hit hard on the head again.
Soludo quickly comes out of the car and attempted running to her, but the tall masked man, pulls him back.
“You love this Kids right? I mean you would lay your life for theirs right?” He spoke out angrily.
“If you hurt him, you’re a dead man. I promise you that.”
The short masked man hits her head again and falls down gasping, the blows to her head pains her.
Soludo who is crying, bites the man and he shouts, using the butt of the gun, he hits him hard on the head and he passed out.
Osita comes out angrily and tries attacking the man but he shoots his leg, he falls down screaming loudly.
“Am gonna kill you guys.” She weakly said.
“Well, I highly doubt that.” He said.
“Take her inside the bush. She looks good to fvck.” He orders and the short guy carried her on his shoulder, Amanda tried fighting but the tall guy punched her across the face, hard. Blood drips down her nose.
Lotenna, quickly came down and ran to her brothers crying.
“Lotenna, go and tell uncle Olisa. Hurry!” He said in pains.
Lotenna nods her and sprang up to her feet, she ran as fast as her leg could carry her…
