(i)Lack of trust in governance. This is different from the dislike of politicians. In this case, this is an issue of not believing in the way of governance and lacking the interest to see governance improve. Most people also have lost hope of a better governance and therefore a reason for their political apathy.
(ii)Campaign violence. Due to the level of violence that always occur during the build-up to elections, most people stay away from electoral process for the safety of their lives. Also, the violence was seen during campaign always damage the credibility of most political parties and their candidates among the people. And because of this, the level of political apathy keeps growing.
(iii)Lack of credible candidate. Since the beginning of the post-military era, there has been a continuous cycle of politicians. People do not have so many options from which they vote.
(iv)Weak security measures during elections. Most people believe that their votes are not secured during elections. This is as a result of the history of election rigging, snatching of ballot boxes, disruption of voting centres by thugs, etc. And as a result, people don’t participate in the voting process.
(v)The popular belief that the votes don’t count. Most Nigerians believe that their vote do not count. This is one of the main reasons why a lot of Nigerian always refuse to turn out for voters registration. And during elections, most decide to stay back at home because of the general feeling and belief that their votes will have no impact on the outcome of the election

So she manipulates those who love her the most
(iii)They are very likely to be engaged in criminal acts; Eventually, the money runs out. They have pawned or sold everything of value. They owe friends and family money. There are no more assets but the drugs or alcohol have to be obtained.
At this point, many people will begin committing crimes. Selling or manufacturing drugs are common ones.
(iv)An addict will shift the blame; this person may have lived their prior life as a highly responsible individual, drug addiction steals that quality away. Whatever happens is never his fault. If he gets fired from a job, it’s the boss’s fault, the addict was unfairly targeted. If he gets in a car accident, it was totally someone else’s fault. If he fails at some activity, those close to him will be blamed.
(v)An addict is very likely to become abusive; It’s tragic that an addict’s blame can even take a violent and abusive form. With the delusional thinking common to most addicts, he can perceive those around him as being threatening, dangerous or malicious. As he shifts the blame, he may physically, mentally or emotionally attack those he blames

(i) Lack of participation in elections: Political apathy culminates in a docile mass of citizens, who do not take part in civic duties especially in the aspect of voting and electoral activities.
(ii) It leads to unchecked governance: A situation where citizens are unbothered and care less about the governance of their societies, thus they do not seek reforms or redress on bad policies of government.
(iii) It brings about corruption: Political apathy encourages wide spread corruption, nepotism, abuse of power and other negative tendencies arising from an unchecked regime.
(iv) Political Apathy threatens Democratic dispensation: When a politician wins an election in a high voter apathy political election, such a winner wins with a minority vote. Such a vote doesn’t give the winner confidence that he/she is a popular political representative in a given area.

(v) Political Apathy retards community and national developmental processes: A situation where political leaders spend more time, justifying that he or she is current ward councilor, member of parliament or a current president instead of concentrating on facilitating development related projects to meet the expectations of electorates.
