WAEC Releases 1st Series WASSCE Results For Private Candidates

WAEC GCE Result 2023 (1st Series Exam) | Gce Result Checker: This is to inform the general public, especially candidates participating in the 2023 first series West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE for Private Candidates (known as WAEC GCE), that their results are now available online.

How to Check WAEC GCE Results Online

  1. Go to the WAEC result-checking portal @ www.waecdirect.org.
  2. Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-Digit center number followed by your 3-digit candidate number, e.g., 4123456789)
  3. Enter the four (4) digits of your Examination Year, e.g., 2023
  4. Select the Type of Examination, i.e., PRIVATE CANDIDATE RESULT.
  5. Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
  6. Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card.
  7. Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.

NOTE: The result checker PIN and Serial Number needed to check your result online are on your Smart Identity Card used during the examination.

Candidate Statistics and Withheld Results

Of the 8,348 candidates who took the examination, 4,161 were male (49.84%), and 4,187 were female (50.16%). However, 413 candidates, accounting for 4.95% of the total, have had their results withheld due to allegations of examination malpractice. Investigations are underway, and the findings will be submitted to the appropriate Council committee for further action.

Checking Results and Obtaining Certificates

Candidates can check their results on the official WAEC website, www.waecdirect.org. They must also apply for their certificates online via the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman) at https://certrequest.waec.ng/.

Performance Statistics

An analysis of the candidates’ performance shows that 2,960 candidates (35.46%) obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects (with or without English Language and Mathematics). Additionally, 2,003 candidates (23.99%) achieved credit and above in a minimum of five issues, including English Language and Mathematics.

Special Needs Candidates

Among the participants, 27 candidates with varying degrees of special needs were registered for the examination, including eight visually challenged candidates, two with impaired hearing, and four with albinism. All special needs candidates received adequate support during the administration of the examination.

Candidates participating in the WASSCE Private Candidates 2023 – First Series are encouraged to review their results carefully and take the necessary actions.
